Who is your favorite character?
- I have several. It all depends on who I’m writing at the time. It’s too hard for me to pick just one. Though his parts are so small, I find writing Whisper’s thoughts some of the most fun.
Are all of the Priestesses followers of Eafel?
- No, only the Sisterhood, a sub-group within the priestesses, follow Eafel. The rest of them are acting in the best interest of their religion.
Are the Tontu and the Marpe’e the same people?
- If you have read ‘The Godless Cleric,’ you will have some insight here. A small group of the Marpe’e escaped the Great Barrier, sailing to a land called Tontu. The land and the people came to share the same name after the last pieces of the Ice Kingdom escaped across the Great Western Desert. The Tontu are that mix of the last Marpe’e that followed Doewa and the survivors of the Ice Kingdom. The Marpe’e brought fire gifted and gifters that had lost the magic, and the Ice Kingdom brought ice magic to the Tontu.
In book two, ‘Essence of Life,’ did the plague come from our own COVID-19 experiences?
- This one is quite odd. I wrote about the plague being released by the Sisterhood in early October 2019, even before we knew about COVID-19. It seemed to me at the time that my writing about it was somehow responsible for the outbreak in our world. I realize it wasn’t, but it was bizarre to see all that coming about shortly after I had written something similar into book two.
I want to read the novellas from ‘Origins of Fate’ . When should I plan to read them?
- While they can be read at any time, even before reading ‘The FireNight Prophecies’, I think they are best read either after finishing ‘Essence of Life’ or after ‘Fire’s Heart’. I feel this is the best spot, once you have some of the world background, however, I have had people read them first and enjoy them like that as well. Really, there is no wrong answer.
